Well the amplifiers are still cooling off and the last string is still humming from the summer tour. Night after night we were overwhelmed by your support and appreciation. Thank you. But the year is far from over, onward and upward!
In October, the Hundred Mile Band and I will embark on a headlining tour of the States. It’s been our honor over the last two years to play support for artists that we admire deeply. This fall, however, the show is ours. And since we’re at the top of the bill, we make the rules. So let’s start here… tickets will be ten dollars. This tour begins on 10/7 in Charlottesville and the only exceptions are the show that is promoted by a non-profit (Ann Arbor) and one we’re playing as support (Salt Lake City). Everything else is a Hamilton. Traveling the country night after night we’ve seen folks in every city tightening their belts. That you spend a few of those stretched dollars on our concerts is heartening. We’d like to show our appreciation.
If that means we wait another year for a fancy van, no problem. If that means we all bunk up into one hotel room, it won’t be the first time. And if that means that our bass-player Matt must find new means to maintain his raging apple-tini habit, he will answer that solemn call.
We love these songs that we’re playing and want you to hear them. And we don’t want you to spend a week’s wages to do it.
A few months back I bought tickets for a concert- which shall remain nameless- only to get manhandled by service charges and by their Newspeak cousins, “convenience fees”. The actual price was nearly double the face of the ticket. Half of my money was going to the band I loved, the other half to horse-thieves. Reining in ticket fees has been notoriously difficult, even for artists of great influence. But in a small step, we negotiated to do SOME of the tickets directly through our website. We’re going to try this for the Chicago show on 10/16. The first 50 tickets will be available exclusively at my website with zero fees. The amount charged to your credit card will be exactly 10 bucks per ticket. If all goes well we hope to roll out the no-fee ticketing for entire tours.
